Welcome to the page to support you and your young person through the SQA procedures for 2025-26. Please use this to access SQA sites and school information - www.sqa.org.uk
This area of our website is updated with key SQA information at relevant stages of the year.
Key dates for Senior Phase Courses and Qualifications.
It is essential that pupils are present for all SQA assessments and exams, SQA will not reschedule dates or extend deadlines to facilitate pupil absence. Consistent attendance is essential for success in terms 2 & 3, please keep this in mind if considering any non essential absence for the remainder of the session. Should a situation arise where your young person is unable to attend school or is likely to miss an assessment it is essential that you inform the school as soon as possible.
Ongoing Coursework & Deadlines
Senior Phase courses have a variety of compulsory coursework tasks. Teachers set deadlines to ensure coursework is completed on time and to allow staff to package work ready for SQA collection. Please encourage your young person to meet all deadlines, failure to do so may result in no marks awarded for elements of their course. NPA and Foundation Apprenticeship courses that do not have final exams have ongoing coursework, failure to complete required coursework will prevent pupils from passing these courses.
Prelim Examinations
The majority of Prelim Exams are scheduled to take place from Monday 12th until Friday 23rd of January 2026. Please note that some practical prelims will take place the week before and some may take place out with this timeframe. Teachers will share specific dates with classes in Term 2.
SQA Exam Diet
The SQA Exam Diet is currently scheduled to run from Wednesday 22nd April until Monday 1st June. The full exam timetable has been published on the SQA website.
SQA Practical Exams
Some practical exams take place out with the SQA Exam Diet, with SQA assessors visiting the school on the day of examination. These exams take place during Term 3 (Jan-Apr) and occasionally into Term 4. SQA confirm specific dates later in the year. Failure to attend would result is no marks awarded for that element of the course and SQA are unable to reschedule any exams. Teachers will share specific dates with pupils when we have confirmation from SQA. Courses with practical exams include Drama, Music, PE courses, Practical Cookery, Practical Cake Craft and all Modern Languages courses.
